Field Producers Certification Workshop in Josephine County
CLASSES BEGINNING ON THURSDAY, MAY 13, 2010 AT THE JOSEPHINE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY IN GRANTS PASS
Equipment check out/in from 5:30 PM to 6 PM
Classes from 6 PM to 8:30 PM
This workshop will train students in basic understanding and operation of cablecast television field production and will introduce you to others in your area that share your interests. Once completed, the FPCW student will be recognized as a RVTV Public Access Field Producer by RVTV. Certified Producers may arrange to check out gear from the RCC facility before an RVTV field class or by special arrangement with Public Access staff. Josephine County Field Producers may also check out equipment from the RVTV facility in Ashland. Producers may keep and use the equipment for a week at a time, and shall be returned to the same facility where it was checked out. RVTV reaches and estimated 73,000 homes and businesses on ATV and Charter Cable channels 15 in Josephine County and Jackson County. Our signal is also streaming live at all times from our website allowing a worldwide audience. ________________________________________ ________________________________________
Group Productions
The class will form groups. These groups will work together throughout the workshop to accomplish tasks and create a simple 2 - 5 minute short video project or PSA that they will show during the Graduation Class/Show. These projects will also be added to the Public Access Schedule individually to play as fillers on RVTV channels. ________________________________________ ________________________________________
Class #1: Introduction / Pre-Production / Project Planning Introductions, visualization, arranging, and scheduling all the elements of a PSA or short video project. Class will break into groups of 3 – 5 people. We will screen examples of previous class projects.
Class #2: Camera Techniques / Field Audio Recording / Lighting Class will create a practice PSA during this class! Groups will learn to use cameras, microphones, headphones, and basic lighting for their productions.
Class #3: Graphics / Set Design / Art Direction The advantage of using what is available to create a production with the best “look” for their production.
Class #4: Group Production Prep / Equipment Check Out Groups will plan to shoot their PSA and come to understand basic planning and prep of their field production. Check out gear. Groups will meet during the week after this class to tape their PSA before the next class.
Class #5: Introduction to Digital Editing Groups will bring in their footage from their shoot and be introduced to digital editing, and will begin to capture and assemble their project using eMacs with iMovie.
Class #6: Digital Editing / Post Production / Project Finalization Groups will work together to complete their PSAs. They will then burn their finished projects directly to DVD-Rs, ready for cablecast!
Week #7: Fieldtrip to RVTV / Graduation Show ---LIVE ON RVTV--- 6:30 - 7 PM on Friday evening Students will carpool together to tour the RVTV Multimedia Center on the SOU Campus in Ashland. After the tour, Students will star in and create their own Graduation Program. PSAs will roll and certificates will be handed out --- All of it sent out LIVE!
